Langston Hughes once said,
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
I ask what happens to a mending heart?
Does it forgive?
like a priest to his son
Or does it move on?
like the waves to the shore
or does it hold on?
like a child to his mom
Or does it stay in your memories
and haunt you for life
Or do you just let go?
Maybe it just stays there
a reminder to always be bold
do not explode for life is forever unknown
